Mike Kenny was a husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and a Glioblastoma warrior. Our world was turned upside down on July 16, 2022 when a visit to the ER resulted in the diagnosis of this extremely aggressive form of primary brain cancer. For almost 21 months, Mike bravely fought this cancer and inspired everyone around him with his positivity and determination. Unfortunately, Glioblastoma is highly malignant and the 5 year survival rate is only 6.9%. Throughout the roller coaster of life with Glioblastoma, we learned that there have been very few REAL advances in the treatment of brain cancer, and the nature of the disease makes breakthroughs even more difficult. Glioblastoma is also considered a rare cancer, and as a result, receives less than 3% of all cancer research dollars. Friends, patients, caregivers, and families NEED hope. Doctors and scientists need research dollars to fund their trials. Losing Mike is something my kids and I struggle with everyday. We are trying to turn our grief into purpose by raising awareness and funds for Glioblastoma. I hope that one day, a young husband and wife sitting in the ER, being told about a diagnosis of Glioblastoma, will also be told about the amazing and successful treatment options that are available. Please join us on Sunday, September 15, 2024 to make a difference and show our community that we are still #Kennystrong!
