4702 for GBM

  • Charles River Charles River Esplanades Boston, MA United States (map)

Community Member-Led Event

We are rowing a Hopkins sibling 8+ at the 2024 Head of the Charles Regatta to raise funds and awareness for Glioblastoma Research in honor of Dad.

Dad instilled a love for rowing, and for the Head of the Charles Regatta (HOCR), in each of us, attending even in 2021 as he was struggling with mobility in later stages of his fight with Glioblastoma Multiformae (GBM) to cheer on Maddie, Emma, Ben, Lucy, and Lily in their various events, spend quality family time, watch some great racing, and catch up with old rowing friends. Our acceptance into this year's Director's Challenge 8+ Event at HOCR is a special opportunity to row a first ever sibling 8+ (to our knowledge) down this iconic 4702 meter course to honor our Dad and his love for our family and the sport. At the same time, it is an emotional moment, being on this course without him launching us or hollering from a bridge as we row by. We hope, as we power down the course on October 20, that you will support us by remembering Dad, learning about GBM (excellent resources provided by our fundraising partner Glioblastoma Research Organization), and donating to ongoing research for this particularly deadly and devastating cancer through our fundraiser.

Proceeds from our custom merch, which can be found below, will go towards supporting the Glioblastoma Research Organization!
